(Day 31): Get Off Social Media Because It’s Stressing You Out!

Can I tell you first off… I LOVE SOCIAL MEDIA! To be honest, probably TOO much. However it can also be a detriment in many ways if I’m not careful.

Honestly I believe there is value in social media and it’s not all bad. I’ve made great friendship connections to people I would never have met if it wasn’t for social media. I’ve stayed connected with lifelong friends from across the nation, overseas, and in different continents of the world because of social media. I’ve kept in contact with family members all the more because of social media. Shoot, I’m even able to be doing what I’m doing all the more (writing a book + speaking) because of the influence social media has had on my creative abilities.

However, if there’s a few things I’ve learned with the use of social media, proper boundaries definitely have to be in place. I need these boundaries so I don’t get stressed out, depressed, find myself in the comparison trap, or zapped of my creative energies. Sometimes I have to cut it out completely for a while because I’m just so saturated in the negative aspects it can bring to my life.

With that said, I encourage you to take a fast and GET OFF SOCIAL MEDIA for a few days, a few weeks, heck even a month or more if you have any of the tendencies right now to what I shared above (anxiety, depression, comparison, anger, lonely, etc) and INVEST in the LIFE BLOOD relationships around you! Or invest into yourself personally by doing things that have been taking up your time and energy by scrolling through social media feeds!

And guess what? I will do it with you. Right after posting this I will be taking a full week off social media so I can purge some of the anxiety I’ve felt from it and invest in my family because I’ve been too distracted and it’s been sapping my creative energies (can you tell?!)

Life is too short to be so consumed virtually. We are getting too stressed out by being so overly exposed to social media so readily. We need to live life tangibly so we have enough life in us to live life fully.
